About the Show
In my lighting design of the Disney classic musical Mary Poppins, I wanted to create the dreary and cloudy environment of early 20th century London while also enhancing the joy and happiness Mary Poppins brings with her as she flies into the Banks house. The contrast between these two different worlds is important for me to showcase so it will enhance the emotions the children - and eventually the parents - feel during their fun with Mary. I also want to create a warm and cool lighting palette that can be used in both contexts, while also using Color Scrollers to enhance and add to these palettes. Precise and focused areas of light will also be used to help the audience draw focus while also allowing for scenic elements to stand out and create a cohesive stage picture.
