For African Company Presents Richard III, I was the assistant designer for this very challenging show because of its many elements, but was a show where I felt very artistically fulfilled. The show was a conceptual show that used shadow puppetry as a a way to further tell the story of the actors on stage. We had over thirty hand puppets and eight puppeteers that were used intermittently throughout the play. The designer and I wanted to continue the motif of shadows when puppets weren't being used, so we created and used many gobos to convey locations and references in the script.
